Tesla AI has chosen to playfully announce that June 1st, 2025 is the start date for the Austin Robotaxi service.

At the earnings call they said they would start the first day with 10-20 Model Ys with FSD operating as unsupervised robotaxi that offer paid rides.
Operating with over 5000 Tesla’s in multiple cities in California and Texas would be larger services than all current robotaxi providers like Waymo and Apollo Go combined and other China operators.
Tesla has said they will scale to millions of robotaxi by the end of 2026 and the million scaled level by mid 2026. This can only be done by activating and permitting current US Tesla owners to participate as robotaxi providers in the Tesla network.
