Thermo Fisher Scientific is stepping up investments in India as drugmakers increase work on innovative medicines and biosimilars, The Economic Times reports. The US-based laboratory equipment maker said India recorded its fastest growth in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region over the past year. It expects double-digit returns from the market over the next five years, though it did not disclose India revenue or planned investment amounts. Demand is growing for bioprocessing equipment, laboratory analysers, automation systems and protein-characterisation technologies. A BCG report projects India’s biosimilars exports will rise from $800 million to $4.2 billion by 2030, with the US as a key target. Thermo Fisher opened a bioprocess design and customer experience centre in Hyderabad last year.
