The police arrested three members of a family on the charge of killing a 32-year-old man who got addicted to online gaming in Bagalkot district.
Anil Parappa Kanatti of Bidari village in Bagalkot district was killed a few days ago.
His father Parappa Mallappa Kanatti, mother Shanta and brother Basavaraj tied his hands, doused him with diesel and set fire to him. They tried to dispose of the body later.
They were upset with Anil who had become an online gaming addict.
He used to get drunk and fight with his mother and other family members.
He was using unacceptable methods to raise money for his gaming. The family thought that this had brought dishonour to them.
Meanwhile, investigation revealed that the family was involved in the murder. On inquiry, they confessed to the crime, the police said.
