# Three US states execute inmates on same day for first time since 2010

Oklahoma, Tennessee and Alabama executed three inmates on Thursday, the first time in nearly 16 years that three people have been put to death on the same day in the United States. Carlos Cuesta-Rodriguez, Anthony Darrell Hines and Jeremy Williams were all killed by lethal injection hours apart. Eleven states executed a total of 47 people in 2025, the highest number since 2009. Florida accounted for 19 of those. So far in 2026, 22 inmates have been executed across five states, the Hindustan Times reports. Tennessee executed Hines, 66, for the 1985 stabbing of motel maid Catherine Jean Jenkins. His execution went ahead despite problems with an IV line during a previous lethal injection in the state. Alabama executed Williams, 42, for the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl; he had asked to be put to death. Oklahoma executed Cuesta-Rodriguez, 70, for the 2003 murder of his girlfriend. He told the parole board he deserved punishment.
