# Tiger Shroff escape shooting in Mumbai, Lawrence gang claims responsibility 2026-10-18T15:01:40+00:00 | India | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after unidentified bike-borne assailants fired five to seven rounds at his car in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday, 18 October. His driver and an auto-rickshaw driver were injured in the attack, which occurred as Shroff was returning from a football match. Mumbai police have sealed the area and are examining CCTV footage to identify the attackers. According to a social media post attributed to Lawrence gang members Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, the group claimed responsibility for the firing. The post said: 'We had warned him, he did not understand. Today (Sunday, 18 October) we have made him understand properly. Whoever in the Mumbai film industry does not listen to us or works with Salman, he will be next.' The motive remains unclear, and police investigations are ongoing. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Bhaskar.com's account includes the Lawrence gang's claim of responsibility and a detailed list of similar attacks on celebrities since 2022, framing the incident as part of a broader pattern of organised crime targeting the film industry. Tv9hindi.com reports the same core facts but omits any claim of responsibility, presenting it as a straightforward crime story with only the police statement. The difference leaves readers of bhaskar.com with a clear attribution of motive, while tv9hindi.com's version raises fewer immediate questions about who is behind the attack. Both outlets agree on the key facts: Shroff is safe, two others were injured, and police are investigating. A balanced reading notes that the Lawrence gang's social media claim is reported by bhaskar.com but not independently confirmed by police, and tv9hindi.com's more cautious reporting reflects that uncertainty. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 1 neutral, 1 sensationalist - tv9hindi.com (neutral report) Reports shooting and police statement, no gang claim or context of past attacks - bhaskar.com (sensationalist) Leads with gang claim of responsibility and lists past attacks on celebrities This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
