# TMC leader Sanjay Raut, father found dead in Bengal 2026-10-03T14:16:57+00:00 | India | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets A local Trinamool Congress leader, Sanjay Raut (49), and his father, Kamal Raut (72), were found dead at their home in Ashoknagar, North 24 Parganas, on Saturday, 3 October. Police said Sanjay's body was discovered hanging from the balcony, while Kamal was found unconscious in the same room and later died at Ashoknagar State General Hospital. Local residents told media that Kamal may have taken sleeping pills. Police have sent both bodies for postmortem and have launched a detailed investigation. Sanjay, a close confidant of former TMC legislator Narayan Goswami, was also in the export-import business and had reportedly been anxious over recent losses, though police have not confirmed any link. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both The Hans India and Yes Punjab News present the same facts in straight, neutral wire-style reporting, leading with the discovery of the bodies and attributing every detail to police or local residents. Neither outlet editorialises, speculates on political motive, or frames the deaths as a law-and-order failure. The only difference is minor phrasing: The Hans India quotes a police officer saying Kamal was alive when found, while Yes Punjab News uses the more concise 'unconscious'. The uniform coverage leaves no stance divide to analyse. The open question remains the postmortem report, which police say will determine the cause. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - thehansindia.com (neutral report) Straight police-blotter style, no slant on TMC - yespunjab.com (neutral report) Same facts, same police attribution, no editorialising This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
