Trinamool Congress workers protested across West Bengal on Monday after an alleged attack on Mamata Banerjee's convoy in Halisahar, but several demonstrations were disrupted by police detentions. TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused the BJP-backed state government of supporting the attackers, claiming video footage shows bricks and stones being thrown at the vehicle and that some attackers have photographs with BJP leaders. In a separate development, three MLAs who had aligned with the Ritabrata Banerjee faction, Abdul Khaleque Molla, Mohammad Tausif Rahman and Bibhas Sardar, shared the stage with senior Kalighat camp leaders at a protest, fuelling speculation that the rebel camp is fracturing. Ritabrata Banerjee claimed his camp still commands the support of 65 MLAs and challenged the Kalighat faction to prove otherwise.
