The 10.8-km road is part of the comprehensive road infrastructure development programme (CRIDP). A 4-km stretch was widened for Rs 9 crore months ago, but work on the Subramaniyapuram to Illuppaiyur stretch stopped. Devotees from Namakkal, Musiri, Thuraiyur and Thammampatti use the road, along with residents of over four villages. Office-goers, students and shoppers heading to Thuraiyur taluk headquarters also rely on it.
