# Tamil Nadu batter fined Rs 1 lakh for phone breach

A Tamil Nadu Premier League batter has been fined Rs 1 lakh for using a mobile phone in the Players and Match Officials Area during a match, PTI reports. The player was allegedly texting his girlfriend. The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit found no corruption offence, but phone use in the restricted area breaches protocol. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has not named the 26-year-old left-hander, who scored two Ranji Trophy fifties last season. PTI says the association considered a two-year ban before imposing the fine. Sportstar reports that the player remains under investigation and has been kept out of selection until the enquiry ends. A Rajasthan Royals manager was fined the same amount for phone use during the 2026 IPL.
