The victim, Sunitha (name of victim as reported), a housekeeping staffer at a government bank, was walking when the parked electric vehicle was suddenly driven at high speed and hit her from the opposite direction. Locals caught the driver at the spot. Sunitha was taken to a hospital. The Times of India reports that the victim's family approached the producer for medical expenses but were refused help. An alleged audio recording of the conversation, in which the producer reportedly asked them to file a case against the driver, later went viral. Mahananda told the family he was returning after dropping the producer's wife, a claim the producer denied. CCTV footage of the accident has also circulated on social media.
