# Trainer aircraft skids off runway at Baramati, no casualties

A trainer aircraft operated by Carver Aviation skidded off the runway at Baramati airstrip in Pune district around 12.30 pm on Sunday, police said. The Cessna 172 (VT-SEX) was carrying pilot-in-command Captain Chirag Shashikant Doifode and cadet Abhijeet Jundre during a training exercise involving rejected take-offs. No injuries were reported. Pune Rural SP Sandeep Singh Gill said the aircraft crossed the threshold of Runway 29 and veered onto the paved area beyond. This is the third incident at the airstrip this year. In January, a Learjet 45 crash killed former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and four others. In May, a trainer aircraft from Redbird Flight Training Academy crashed near Gojubavi village; the trainee pilot escaped unhurt. Police are investigating whether a technical snag caused Sunday’s crash.
