US President Donald Trump has announced tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and their components, citing national security. Drones weighing over 25 kg or with thermal imaging will face the highest rate; smaller drones will attract 25%. Most tariffs take effect on September 3. The White House says the move will boost domestic production and reduce dependence on China, whose DJI controls about 70% of the US commercial drone market. The US also imposed a 15% tariff on drones from the EU, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan, and 10% on those from the UK. China last week retaliated by restricting drone exports to the US and blacklisting six companies.
