# Jammu and Kashmir Police arrest five drug peddlers in three districts

Police in Shopian, Pulwama, and Ganderbal have arrested five drug peddlers in separate operations on August 7 and 9. In Shopian, officers seized 44 grams of charas sticks from Mushtaq Ahmad Dar during a naka check at Manihal Crossing. In Pulwama, Adil Bashir Ganie was caught with 27 bottles of codeine-based Wecan-D concealed under his motorcycle seat at Checkpora Bypass Bridge. In Ganderbal, police arrested Javaid Ahmad Dar and Arbaz Ahmad Reshi on August 7 with 11 grams of heroin-like substance. A backward-linkage investigation led to the supplier, Ajaz Ahmad Dar, from whose premises police recovered another 52 grams of heroin and Rs 20,950 in suspected drug proceeds. Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered at respective police stations, and samples are being sent for forensic examination. Police have appealed for public cooperation to report drug peddling.
