Two separate actions against civic employees in Maharashtra highlight the Election Commission's strict oversight of electoral roll revision. In Ulhasnagar, the municipal corporation filed an FIR against clerks Sundar Landge and Dinesh Marothia for failing to complete work as Booth Level Officers in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive. A review meeting on August 4 found Landge had distributed EF forms to only 83.17% of voters and Marothia to 94.04%, with low digitisation rates. In Palghar district, the administration suspended Gopal Chaudhari, an assistant electoral registration officer for the 132-Nalasopara constituency, for remaining absent without permission and doing no SIR work. Both actions were taken under the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
