# Typhoon Dolphin forces over 500 flight cancellations, China braces

Hindustan Times reports that Typhoon Dolphin has forced more than 500 flight cancellations in Japan, with evacuation orders for nearly 260,000 residents in Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures. Toyota suspended work at nine factories on Friday. The Category 1 storm has winds of 144 kph and is heading toward Okinawa and Kyushu, where Kumamoto prefecture is still recovering from last week’s magnitude 7.1 earthquake. In eastern China, authorities have shut schools and tourist sites in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, with 200-400 mm of rainfall expected. Shanghai is also in the storm’s path. China has declared a level III emergency response.
