# UP may double Vidhayak Nidhi medical aid, cap solar lights

The Uttar Pradesh government is examining proposals to double the annual ceiling for medical assistance under the Vidhayak Nidhi from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh per MLA, Hindustan Times reports. It also plans to remove disease-wise restrictions and the district-level panel that delays approvals. Separately, the government is set to cap spending on solar lights and entrance gates after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged that these two categories accounted for 71% of sanctioned works in 2024-25. Each MLA gets Rs 5 crore annually.
