# UP toddler raped by 14-year-old neighbour, detained

A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 14-year-old neighbour in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, police said on Saturday. The accused lured the toddler to a secluded spot near her home in the Sukhpura police station area on Friday around 3.30 pm, the police said. Based on a complaint by the girl's father, a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused has been detained and is being questioned, Station House Officer Ratnesh Dubey said.
