# UP vet doctor dies by suicide after Rs 1.4 crore fraud

A veterinary doctor died by suicide on Thursday morning after jumping from the eighth floor of an apartment building in Gorakhpur’s Rajendra Nagar. Police recovered a suicide note from his pocket naming the woman he had accused of defrauding him of Rs 1.4 crore. The doctor, identified by Times of India as Dr Paramatma Singh (45), was posted in Maharajganj. Hindustan Times gives his age as 52. His wife, also a veterinary doctor, found him in a pool of blood. Dr Singh had filed an FIR on August 5 alleging that Garima Singh and her associates cheated him through a loan scheme. Police had already arrested Garima and her father, a railway official, before the suicide. Times of India reports that the alleged fraud network may involve Rs 10 crore and multiple victims. Police are investigating both the suicide and the cheating case.
