Salmonella outbreaks linked to imported jalapeños and recalled eggs have sickened at least 443 people across the United States, according to the Economic Times and Times Now News. The larger outbreak has affected 345 people in 27 states, hospitalising 36, with no deaths reported. The FDA traced it to jalapeños from Mexico supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors. Chipotle changed suppliers and QDOBA removed the peppers from its menu. Separately, 98 people in 17 states fell ill after consuming eggs from Texas-based Midwest Poultry Services, with 26 hospitalised. More than 1.5 million dozen eggs were recalled under brands including Kroger, Simple Truth, Brookshire's, Cal-Maine and Country Morning. Consumers should check cartons marked with best-by dates from July 20 to August 17, 2026, and plant codes P-1950 or 0840962.
