The US Senate has passed a resolution recognising Missouri as a claimant to the 1960 college football national championship. Senator Eric Schmitt introduced the measure on Thursday, and it passed without objection. The resolution is symbolic and carries no legal force, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Missouri finished 10-1, beating Navy in the Orange Bowl. Their only loss to Kansas was later forfeited by the Jayhawks for using an ineligible player. National titles in 1960 were split among Minnesota, Mississippi, Washington and Iowa, depending on the poll. Missouri had never claimed the title.
