# Varanasi five to six times bigger than RRR, says Rajamouli 2026-10-24T17:06:42+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Filmmaker SS Rajamouli has said his upcoming film ‘Varanasi’, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is five to six times bigger than his blockbuster ‘RRR’ in every aspect. He made the remark at the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, where he also received a career achievement award. Despite the larger scale, Rajamouli said the film was shot in 275 days, saving 40 days compared to the 315 days taken for ‘RRR’. He credited extensive preparation and paperwork for the efficiency. The action-adventure drama, which also features Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist, follows archaeologist Rudhra on a mission to recover an ancient cosmic artefact to prevent a global crisis. ‘Varanasi’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 7 April 2027, including an IMAX presentation. The film’s story spans locations in Varanasi, Africa and Antarctica. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three outlets report the same key facts from Rajamouli’s São Paulo appearance: the five-to-six-times scale comparison, the 275-day shoot and the April 2027 release date. odishatv.in leads with the scale comparison and adds the shorter shooting schedule, while telugucinema.com and pinkvilla.com reproduce the same core details with no divergent framing. The coverage is uniform straight reporting. The single notable new fact across all three is the film’s plot: a global crisis triggered by an asteroid named Shambhavi and a race to recover an ancient artefact, which pinkvilla.com provides in the most detail. Readers can expect further casting or promotional announcements before the 7 April 2027 release. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 3 neutral - odishatv.in (neutral report) Straight reporting of Rajamouli's scale and schedule claims - telugucinema.com (neutral report) Brief wire-style summary of key facts from the festival - pinkvilla.com (neutral report) Neutral report with plot details and production timeline This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
