# YRF to enter horror genre with Varun Dhawan, 2027 release

Yash Raj Films, one of India’s oldest production houses, is making its first foray into the horror genre. Varun Dhawan will headline the film, directed by Abhay Pannu, creator of the acclaimed web series Rocket Boys. The film is scheduled to go on floors later this year and target a 2027 theatrical release, sources close to YRF told multiple outlets. Pannu has also written the screenplay. The project is backed by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani. This is Dhawan’s first collaboration with YRF since the 2018 drama Sui Dhaaga. YRF, founded by Yash Chopra, has produced films across romance, action, and drama but never horror.
