Vedanta Aluminium is seeking a $1.4 billion loan from Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank, Business Today reports, citing people familiar with the matter. The proposed loans would run for six-and-a-half to seven years, with interest rates of 7.9% to 8%. The proceeds would refinance debt inherited under Vedanta’s earlier integrated corporate structure. The fundraising follows Vedanta’s court-approved restructuring, aimed at giving its businesses separate financing and reducing debt. The group has split its operations into five separately listed companies. Four, covering aluminium, power, oil and gas, and iron ore, began trading in June. RBI data showed bank lending grew 17.7% year on year to Rs 217.3 lakh crore on 15 July.
