# Veligonda trial run on August 22, evacuation ordered

Markapuram collector M. Vijaya Sunitha has ordered the safe evacuation of villagers from the Veligonda project's submergence area ahead of the August 22 water release trial run. Special committees will oversee the move from nine villages, including Sunkesula, Gundencherla and Chintala Mudipi. Officials must file daily progress reports and finish drinking water, electricity and road works at resettlement colonies on priority. Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said water from the project will reach Nallamala Sagar by end-August. With Srisailam at 870 ft, about 10 TMC can be diverted in 10-15 days. Rs 318 crore of the Rs 900-crore R&R package has been paid directly to beneficiaries, he said.
