# Vinicius Jr back in India, recalls BRICS Cup memories before Brazil friendly 2026-10-03T11:56:31+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Brazil star Vinicius Jr arrived in Kolkata on Friday, 2 October 2026, for the first-ever international friendly between Brazil and India, set for Saturday, 3 October 2026, at Salt Lake Stadium. The Real Madrid winger recalled his visit to India in 2016 when he played for Brazil's U-17 side at the BRICS Cup in Goa and won the top scorer award with five goals. "These are good memories because I came here when I was a boy," Vinicius told CBF TV. He said Indian fans have followed him closely and expressed hope that the team can return more often. Brazil, under new coach Carlo Ancelotti, drew 1-1 with Australia and beat Australia 4-2 in their two recent friendlies. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three sources lead with Vinicius Jr's return and his nostalgic quotes, presenting near-identical wire-style coverage of the same pre-match event. Times of India and Khel Now include the perspective of India midfielder Apuia, who recalls facing Vinicius at the BRICS Cup, adding a local voice absent from CNBC TV18's tighter report. CNBC TV18 alone notes Brazil's recent performances and Ancelotti's rebuilding plans, framing the friendly within a broader team trajectory. The differences are editorial packaging, not stance: every outlet stays neutral, reporting Vinicius's own words and the match schedule without commentary. All three agree the match is on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 3 neutral - timesofindia.indiatimes.com (neutral report) Straight pre-match feature with Vinicius quotes and local player reaction - cnbctv18.com (neutral report) Concise news report with Vinicius quotes and Brazil's recent form - khelnow.com (neutral report) Feature-style narrative with Vinicius quotes and background detail This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
