# Voltas, Atomberg tie up to make AC compressors in India

Tata Group firm Voltas and IPO-bound startup Atomberg have signed a binding term sheet to form a joint venture that will manufacture room air conditioner compressors and related parts in India. The venture will focus on high energy efficiency, operational reliability, cost competitiveness and progressive localisation, combining Voltas’ market reach and supply chain with Atomberg’s compressor and motor technology. The JV will supply Atomberg’s proprietary compressors to third parties as well, but Voltas will be the anchor customer providing stable demand. Atomberg, backed by Temasek and Steadview Capital, is looking to raise Rs 1,500-2,000 crore through its public issue. The deal is subject to due diligence and regulatory approvals.
