Speaking at a Partition Horrors Remembrance Day event in New Delhi, he said remembering Partition should promote unity rather than reopen old wounds. He called it one of history’s largest mass migrations and said its hurried borders still affect defence, national security and ties with neighbouring countries. Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh separately said around 1.5 crore people were forced from their homes during Partition and urged students to remember its suffering. He asked the university community to support the goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and help DU enter the world’s top 200 universities.
