# WBJEE held peacefully, students find maths paper lengthy 2026-08-18T03:15:57+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet (2 source reports) The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) was conducted peacefully across the state on Sunday, with tight security measures in place. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) reported no untoward incidents or malpractice at any of the 267 examination centres. Of the 1,20,856 registered candidates, many found the mathematics paper lengthy and time-consuming. The 75-question mathematics section, held from 11 am to 2 pm, required lengthy calculations, with some candidates saying it was tougher than this year's JEE Main. The exam was held across 264 centres in Bengal, two in Tripura and one in Assam. Candidates were frisked with hand-held metal detectors, and mobile phones were banned. Two-ply carbonless OMR sheets were introduced, allowing candidates to keep a copy of their answer sheet. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The coverage from millenniumpost.in is uniform straight reporting: it presents both the official account of a peaceful, well-secured exam and the candidate feedback about the maths paper's length. No source provides government-critical or sensationalist framing. The measured takeaway is that while the board successfully prevented malpractice, the time pressure on the mathematics section may affect candidate performance. The next number to watch is the result declaration date. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - millenniumpost.in (neutral report) Leads with peaceful conduct, includes candidate complaints without emphasis - millenniumpost.in (2) (neutral report) Pre-exam preview focusing on security and logistics, no candidate feedback This story was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above.
