The district joins 38 Legacy and Thrust districts, which will continue receiving security and development support to prevent a resurgence. The change followed the July 28 arrest of Misir Besra, described as the last active top Central Committee and Politburo leader of the CPI(Maoist), and several surrenders in Jharkhand. In Parliament, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said the post-LWE focus includes rehabilitation, welfare delivery, local self-governance and public services.
