# WhatsApp allows HD photo, video sending via guide 2026-08-16T12:19:11+00:00 | Technology | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet WhatsApp has let users send high-quality photos and videos since August 2023, the company said. The feature reduces compression on media files so they retain more detail, texture and depth, rather than being heavily compressed for quick transmission. Lower-quality images also appear less pixelated or blurred when sent in HD mode. The step-by-step guide explains how to select the HD option before sending a picture or video on the platform. Users can choose this in the attachment menu. The feature works across devices and does not require any additional settings or updates beyond the current app version. WhatsApp, owned by Meta, introduced the HD media option three years ago to give users more control over file quality versus speed. The guide reminds users that HD files will still be compressed, but far less than standard mode. ## Coverage - gadgets360.com This story was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
