# BC wildfires force evacuations near Vancouver and Summerland

A wildfire near Vancouver prompted an evacuation alert for about 35 properties in Anmore on Wednesday, Hindustan Times reports. The 1.5-hectare fire in Belcarra Park is nearly contained, said Metro Vancouver. Separately, the Bald Range wildfire near Summerland has grown to 5,000 hectares, forcing thousands to leave their homes and triggering a state of emergency, Times Now reports. The fire also cut power and led to a boil-water notice. Hot, dry weather across British Columbia is increasing fire risks. Canada has seen over 4,500 wildfires this year, burning 3.9 million hectares. International teams from Mexico, Australia and New Zealand are assisting.
