A 31-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife in Malkapur village of Tandur, Vikarabad in the early hours of Monday. The deceased, identified as Reddypalli Venkatesh, was found dead in his house around 7 a.m., said an officer from the Vikarabad police.
According to a complaint lodged by his mother Reddypalli Anjilamma, a resident of Malkaram village, Venkatesh was the youngest of her sons and had been married for over 11 years. “The couple, who have two children aged eight and six, had separated three years ago following frequent quarrels. The woman had then gone to live with her parents,” said the officer.
However, about two months ago, she returned to live with Venkatesh in Malkapur, but the fights eventually resumed. Police said there were recurring arguments between the couple over personal issues.
“On the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, Venkatesh was killed, allegedly sometime around 1 a.m. When his family failed to reach him in the morning, they rushed to his house and found him unresponsive,” added the officer.
The autopsy confirmed death by strangulation. The family suspects that the woman may have called her father to assist in the murder. Police have registered a case and further investigation is under way to ascertain the sequence of events and verify the claims made by the family.
