Police teams from Mahila Thana and other stations persuaded her to back down after Commissioner Raghubir Lal assured a fair probe. The woman's father said he married his daughter to the son of a Congress leader from Pandu Nagar on March 16, 2024, spending Rs 5 crore on the wedding, including a Fortuner and gold and silver jewellery. She alleged her in-laws later demanded 1kg gold, deluxe furniture and a house.
