KOLKATA/NAGPUR: India failed to field a compound women’s team in the season-opening
Archery World Cup
that began in Florida on Tuesday.
After multiple follow-ups by
Archery Association of India
(AAI), eight of the nine remaining Indian team members managed to get the visa but it came so late that they could not take the flight to the US.

“The visas came so late that it was not feasible for them to reach the venue before the start of the competition,” AAI assistant secretary Gunjan Abrol told TOI on Wednesday.
With most flights to USA already booked, the AAI had to cancel the tickets as the papers arrived too late.
Since the competition kicked off with the compound event,
Jyothi Surekha Vennam
remained the country’s sole representative in the women’s category.
