# World No.1 Swiatek accepts doping ban of one month

World number one Iga Swiatek has accepted a one-month suspension for a positive test for trimetazidine, a heart medication. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) ruled the violation was unintentional, caused by a contaminated melatonin pill. Swiatek missed three tournaments during the provisional suspension, effectively serving most of the ban already. The Polish player, who won the French Open this year, will be eligible to return in early December.
