# Yamuna rises near warning level after highest release from Hathnikund

The Yamuna river in Delhi rose sharply on Wednesday evening, reaching 203.50 metres at the Old Railway Bridge by 8 pm, up from 202.38 metres early that morning. The rise followed the season's highest discharge of 63,109 cusecs from the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana a day earlier. The warning level is 204.50 metres and the danger mark is 205.33 metres. Officials said there is no flood risk at present. Bhim Singh Rawat of the South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People told Hindustan Times the level is about one metre below the warning mark and may breach it in 24 hours. In 2023, the river had hit a record 208.66 metres, causing severe flooding. ABP Live reports a slight decline on Thursday morning to 203.37 metres, with current releases from Hathnikund at around 15,000 cusecs.
