# IMD warns of heavy rain in Himachal till August 19

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh until August 19, with orange alerts for heavy to very heavy rain in Mandi and Sirmaur on August 14 and in Bilaspur, Kangra and Sirmaur on August 17. Yellow alerts cover several districts on August 14 to 16. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph may occur in low and mid hills. Thursday remained largely dry, with Rohru recording the highest rainfall at 22 mm. Hindustan Times reports differing figures for disruptions: one report cited 200 blocked roads and 39 affected water schemes, while another put the numbers at 136 roads and 242 water schemes. Flash floods damaged a 700-metre road stretch in Lahaul and Spiti.
