Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed on Sunday that they struck an Aramco refinery in Jizan with a precise drone attack. The group’s military spokesperson said the strike was retaliation for Saudi drone incursions into northwest Yemen. Saudi Arabia’s energy ministry confirmed that its firefighting teams extinguished a blaze at the facility early Sunday and reported no injuries. The ministry did not attribute the fire to an attack. This is the second reported Houthi strike on Aramco infrastructure in a month. A 2022 truce in Yemen’s civil war appeared to collapse in July, with the Houthis announcing a maritime blockade and hitting Saudi tankers in the Red Sea.
