Online meat brand Zappfresh plans to more than double its partner-shop network to 500 this fiscal, from around 200 now. The company is building an asset-light offline model as a supply-chain enabler for traditional meat shops rather than owning stores. Founder Deepanshu Manchanda said the focus will be on deepening presence in Mumbai and Bengaluru over the next two years, not expanding geographically. India's meat market is estimated at $55 billion, with 95 per cent unorganised. Zappfresh supplies products, standardises quality, and helps shops with refrigeration and broader assortment including ready-to-eat items. Partner shops average Rs 4-5 lakh monthly revenue, and Zappfresh makes money by selling to them, not taking a revenue share.
