Zee Studios has announced a multilingual slate of films for 2026-27, spanning Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati and Kannada. The Hindi lineup includes Baap, reuniting Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Mithun Chakraborty. Other titles are Ram Bhoomi with Anupam Kher, Delhi 2021 starring Richa Chadha, and Blind Babu featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The South Indian portfolio includes Telugu films Indraputra, NBK111 and Kanaka Durga, along with Tamil titles Hi and Sathyavan Savitri. Marathi films include Jhep and Phulwara. A Zee Studios spokesperson said the strategy reflects India's diversity across languages and markets. Some observers questioned why certain films opted for direct OTT release instead of theatres.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

The two reports frame the same slate announcement differently. m9.news leads with audience excitement and controversy, using headlines about star power and questioning direct-to-OTT decisions, a sensationalist angle. Hindustan Times leads with the studio's multilingual strategy and spokesperson quote, a neutral corporate press release-style report. Missing from the sensationalist version is the strategic rationale Hindustan Times carries. Both agree on the film titles. A balanced view would note that while delayed films risk irrelevance, Zee's multi-language bet aims to spread risk. The slate's box office and streaming performance across languages from 2026 is the concrete measure to watch.
