13 students hospitalised after lunch at Siddipet school, probe on

Thirteen students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Siddipet district, Telangana, were hospitalised after complaining of severe stomachache on Sunday night. Siasat.com reports that the students had chapatis and potato curry for breakfast and were served chicken for lunch. India Today says the students fell ill after dinner and were rushed by ambulance to the Government Hospital in Cheriyal, where their condition is stable.

Doctors at the hospital attributed the illness to possible contamination of food or drinking water during the rainy season, according to Siasat.com. The Education Department has launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause. India Today adds that authorities will test the quality of food and water supplied at the hostel.
