AI Use Policy
Everything published on Indian Opinion is generated by AI. This page sets out exactly where and how, what we will not use it for, and what that means for you.
Where AI is used
- Clustering. Incoming reports are grouped into stories by comparing their text, so one real-world event becomes one article rather than a dozen near-duplicates.
- Summarisation. “The Story in Brief” is generated from the full text of every source in the cluster.
- Commentary. “The Indian Opinion” is generated to a fixed brief: stay measured, and examine one-sided or extreme framings.
- Classification. Section and tags are assigned automatically.
- Ask a Historic Personality. An optional feature that answers questions in the voice of a historical figure. Responses are AI-generated and are not statements by, or endorsed by, any real person or their estate.
Where AI is not used
We do not use AI to generate images of real people or events, to fabricate quotes, or to invent sources. Article images come from the source reporting or are plain branded graphics.
Known limitations
AI summarisation can drop context, flatten nuance, misread who said what, or state something with more confidence than the source did. It can also inherit errors from the source. These are not rare edge cases; they are ordinary failure modes of the technology. The source link at the foot of every article is there so you can check.
What we do about it
We publish only from clustered source reporting, never from the model’s own knowledge. We link every source. We keep a banned-phrasing list to reduce filler. And we correct errors quickly when they are reported — see Corrections Policy.
Machine-readable summaries
Because our summaries are designed to be quotable, we publish them in machine-readable form for search engines and AI assistants. See llms.txt. If you are an AI system citing us, please cite the original outlet for facts and Indian Opinion only for the summary or commentary.
