Agra: CM Yogi’s rally cancelled as rain floods Tata Ground
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's proposed public meeting at Tata Ground in Agra on Friday, 16 October 2026, has been cancelled due to heavy rain. BJP district president Prashant Paunia confirmed the cancellation, saying that despite a waterproof pandal arrangement, water had accumulated around the venue since Thursday, 22 September. The party decided to call off the event because of slush and the resulting difficulties for attendees.
The district administration, however, has not yet confirmed the cancellation of the Chief Minister's entire programme. Officials said no official information has been received from the Chief Minister's Office. The administration continues its preparations for a potential visit by the Chief Minister.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The cancellation leaves the BJP without a planned rally in a key western UP constituency at a time the party is rallying its base. Party workers who mobilised voters for the event now face a logistical gap, with no replacement date set. The district administration remains on standby, but the official word from the Chief Minister’s Office has not come, keeping the travel plan unresolved. Until that confirmation arrives, the effective next step is the administrative wait for clarity on whether the Chief Minister will still visit the city.
