Aishwarya Lekshmi’s parents wanted her to marry a doctor

Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi's parents had planned a different future for her, hoping she would marry a doctor and lead a family life, according to filmmaker Allepey Ashraf. In a YouTube video, Ashraf said that despite the actress completing her MBBS degree, her parents wanted her to pursue medicine and settle down with a doctor. However, Aishwarya chose films instead.

Ashraf claimed that her decision to enter cinema was difficult for her parents to accept, as they had kept aside jewellery, including around one kilogram of gold, for her marriage. He added that her parents have never depended on her earnings and that even when she bought her mother a saree, it was not accepted. Ashraf described Aishwarya as a symbol of a new generation, saying her elderly parents may not be able to accept the change.

Aishwarya made her acting debut with Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela and gained recognition with Mayaanadhi. She was recently seen in Maaman, Thug Life, and Gatta Kusthi 2. Upcoming projects include the Telugu film SYG, Sambarala Yeti Gattu and the Malayalam film Aasha.
