Amit Shah warns terror supporters will face Afzal Guru fate

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said those who promote terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir will meet the same fate as Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Speaking at an election rally in Udhampur district on Thursday, Mr Shah also dismissed opposition demands to restore Article 370, saying even generations of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would not be able to bring it back. He accused the National Conference, Congress, and PDP of wanting to revive terrorism in the region.

At a separate rally on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked voters to ensure a BJP victory to see Pakistan-occupied Kashmir become part of India. He said the elections are historic and the results will be a slap on the NC, PDP, and Congress, which he accused of supporting Pakistan and terrorism in 1990. Mr Adityanath contrasted Pakistan's economic struggles with India's free ration and healthcare schemes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr Shah reiterated that statehood for Jammu & Kashmir will be restored through Parliament after the elections, as promised by PM Modi. The home minister asserted that nobody has the power to revive terrorism in J&K, and that the era of stone-pelting and bullets has ended under the current government.
