Andaman to hold junior badminton trials for nationals
The Story in Brief
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Badminton Association has scheduled state selection trials on 31 October and 1 November 2026 to pick the Union Territory's contingent for three national championships. Entries close on 29 October, and interested players must submit through a Google Form or call 9531916580 for details.
The trials cover Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 categories in singles, doubles and mixed doubles for both boys and girls. Players will be chosen on performance over the two days. The Under-15 and Under-17 nationals will be held in Bengaluru from 30 November to 5 December 2026. The Under-13 national championship will follow in Punjab from 9 to 12 December 2026.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The trials are the only route for island players to reach the national championships, meaning any eligible athlete who misses the 29 October deadline loses the chance to compete in Bengaluru or Punjab this season. The association does not name a reserve list or a selection quota, so a poor performance on either trial day eliminates a player entirely. The phone number and Google Form are the only contact channels, and the association has not stated whether a confirmation email or call-back will follow registration. The immediate test is whether enough entries come in by the deadline to fill every age and event category.
