Anurag Kashyap says age gap with Shubhrasheta caused trouble

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has said the 23-year age difference with his partner Shubhrasheta initially caused him trouble, making him hesitate to be with her due to societal judgment. In a recent interview, the 53-year-old director admitted the age gap bothered him at the start of their relationship.

Kashyap said he tried to stay away from Shubhrasheta, 30, but later realised their mental connection mattered more than age. He added he is now very happy with her and does not want to lose the peace and joy they share. He said they prefer living together without formal marriage.

The director has had two failed marriages. He married Aarti Bajaj in 1997 and Kalki Koechlin in 2011, divorcing both in 2009 and 2015 respectively. Kashyap said after two divorces, a trusting live-in relationship is better than a third marriage.
