Dravid, Sehwag sons picked for India U-19 series vs Australia
Anvay Dravid, son of Rahul Dravid, and Aaryavir Sehwag, son of Virender Sehwag, have been included in India's Under-19 ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia starting September 18 in Rajkot. The BCCI selection committee named Lakshya Raichandani as captain of the ODI side and Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan as captain for the two multi-day fixtures. Both Anvay and Aaryavir are part of only the ODI squad.
Aaryavir, 18, earns his maiden India U-19 call-up after a 297-run knock in the 2024 Cooch Behar Trophy and performances in the Delhi Premier League. Anvay, 17, retains his place after scoring 14 and 87 in two youth ODIs during the U-19 tour of Sri Lanka last month. The three one-day matches and the first multi-day game will be held in Rajkot, the second multi-day fixture will be in Ahmedabad.
Indian Opinion Analysis
All five sources report the selection as a straightforward squad announcement, with no partisan framing or editorialising. The Hindu and New Indian Express provide the most detail on individual performances, while ABP Live and Times Now emphasise the family legacy angle. The uniformity of coverage reflects a consensus that the story is a routine sports selection with a notable surname factor. The key number to watch is Anvay Dravid's 87 against Sri Lanka and Aaryavir Sehwag's 297 in the Cooch Behar Trophy, as both will face Australia's attack from September 18.
