Arunachal engineering student found dead in Kerala

Michi Marpu (20), a third-year B Tech student from Arunachal Pradesh, was found dead in his rented room near Kothamangalam, Kerala, on Saturday evening. Police said he was discovered lying on the floor with a rope around his neck and suspect he attempted to hang himself from the roof but the rope broke. A three-page suicide note in English and Hindi was recovered.

According to police, Marpu may have taken his own life fearing he would lose an academic year after scoring low marks in some subjects. Students at MA College of Engineering have planned a protest, alleging the college's minimum credit requirement of 22 credits is higher than the 18 credits set by Kerala Technological University for other engineering colleges. SFI and KSU leaders raised the issue; the college has not commented.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating. The postmortem will be conducted after Marpu's relatives arrive in Kothamangalam.
