Atlee’s The Odyssey review sparks Raaka update frenzy
Filmmaker Atlee reviewed Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey on social media a month after its release, calling it a "true epic" and praising its narrative, imagery, and music. But Allu Arjun's fans quickly spammed his comments demanding updates on Raaka, the upcoming sci-fi film starring Arjun and Deepika Padukone, directed by Atlee and produced by Sun Pictures.
Fans expressed frustration over the long wait, with one writing: "We are asking for a Raaka update and you are updating about films you watched." Rumours that Will Smith might have been cast in Raaka also prompted many to ask for confirmation. Hindustan Times reports the film is slated for a 2027 release, while Koimoi notes that Atlee's admiration for Nolan's epic has increased anticipation for his own next directorial venture.
Indian Opinion Analysis
Both sources report Atlee's review identically, with no political slant. The key difference is in framing the fan reaction: Hindustan Times leads with fan frustration and the Will Smith rumour, making the story about audience impatience and social media drama. Koimoi downplays the backlash, instead linking Atlee's praise of The Odyssey to heightened anticipation for Raaka, presenting the review as a positive promotional moment. Neither source questions the rumour's credibility. The measured takeaway: a filmmaker's routine appreciation post was overshadowed by an impatient fanbase, but official details on Raaka remain unchanged.
